Christian Redeker

Christian grew up in Germany and came to England in 2009 to study chemistry at the University of Bristol. He was awarded the Msci degree in chemistry in 2013. In October 2013 he joined the Briscoe group to work on a PhD project, as supported by a prestigious Everrett Scholarship.

PhD Research: Interactions between carbohydrates polymer brushes

Christian’s Master project investigated the evaporative self-assembly of zinc oxide nanorods. The nanorods assembled into various different structures, such as dendrites and helices, at different physicochemical conditions. ZnO nanorod assemblies may have applications in electronics.

His PhD project is going to deal with carbohydrate-containing polymer brushes and with studying their interactions using the surface force apparatus technique.
