Kathleen Cox
Kathleen is one of the few Chemical Physicists who tend to find themselves in the physical section. Originally from London, Kahleen quite enjoys the village life here in Bristol, and she keeps herself entertained by changing her hair colour regularly. She is also planning a return to the capital for her PhD.
MSc Research Project: Interactions between nanowhiskers and surfactant mesophases
Kathleen visited ISIS during her summer project and assisted Charlotte-led team on a small-angle neutron scattering experiment. She has since also used Rob Richardson's SAXS to study how cellulose nanowhiskers would disturb Jo's surfactant lamellar phase. Quite surprisingly, they actually stabilise the lamellar phase!
