After surviving a year in Florida as an international exchange students, Phil returned to civilisation to complete his Master degree in chemistry at the University of Bristol, before embarking upon a PhD partially funded by P&G. Phil grew all sorts of polymer brushes on all sorts of surfaces, and these results have led to a US patent application with him as a co-inventor.

Phil was headhunted by Alkermes (Ireland) after his PhD, and he is sorely missed for his chemical synthesis talent, X-ray reflectivity skills, and at every group pub outings. Latest rumours that reached the English shore is that he is building a house with an Irish girl on her father's land...
