Dr. Xinhu Wu

Xinhu is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the group, after a two-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Fellowship also held in the group. Xinhu's research on in-situ formed polymer ionic liquids and highly stable nanoparticles in nonpolar solvents has led to two patent applications and forms the platform for two EPSRC-IAA grants.

Xinhu is credited for introducing tribology expertise to Bristol, which he gained from his highly productive PhD at Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, under the supervision of Prof. Weimin Liu. Xinhu has also been learning how to tame the surface force apparatus (SFA), and luckily he scatters neutrons with SANS better than he sings with a microphone, evident from a recent nocturnal observation by the unlucky audience in a Tibetan Karaoke bar in Lanzhou...

Despite this mildly seriously looking photo, Xinhu is thoroughly a jolly good fellow, known for hosting Chinese dinner parties at his spatious apartment (occasionally generously described as "city manor" by envious impoverished PhD students). The rumours are that Dr. Xinhu will become Professor Xinhu soon...as he prepares to swim in the enormous pool of his research grant money upon his glorious return to CAS...
